Traditional networking often feels transactional, but meaningful relationships are rarely built through surface-level exchanges. In this masterclass, Amber Mayfield Hewett, founder of To Be Hosted and author of Your Turn to Host, will share how intentional gathering can become a powerful tool for building authentic relationships, increasing visibility, and creating long-term opportunities.
Amber Mayfield Hewett is the founder of To Be Hosted, the creator of While Entertaining on Substack, and author of the highly anticipated book, Your Turn to Host.
Amber began her career in the esteemed Page Program at NBCUniversal, where she supported live studio operations and events for the Today Show, the Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, USA Network and more. In 2016, Amber joined the digital team as an assistant at Bravo TV. While providing administrative support to 3 executives, she supported the digital editorial team with research, authored her first articles for Bravo TV’s Daily Dish, and helped amplify your favorite Real Housewives on Snapchat.
During Amber's time at Bravo TV, she fell in love with the storytelling that surrounds the NYC restaurant scene. The synergy between food culture and events encouraged her to launch To Be Hosted in 2017 as a small, invite only supper club. Offering one of a kind dining experiences, To Be Hosted would go on to foster deeper conversations and connections among tastemakers, industry professionals and the foodies of NYC. After nearly 8 years, To Be Hosted has grown to provide event production services to an elite clientele including brands like Pinterest, Spotify, Peloton, and Pepsi.
In 2018, Amber became the first project manager and later the first operations director for CultureCon, working alongside founder Imani Ellis for five years to shape and maintain the systems that helped scale this event from 500 people to 5000+.
In 2020, Amber began expanding her event media ecosystem. First, with While Entertaining – an indie print magazine turned Substack where she shares stories, recipes, and tips from her world of party planning and events. On social media, her series Soirée School shares how-tos to help others plan and host like a professional at home. In 2023, Amber signed her first publishing deal with Artisan to author her debut party planning guidebook coming in June 2026.
