Since inception in 2013, Kerry, alongside her husband, Alex Faherty (CEO) and his twin brother Mike Faherty (Creative Director), leads Faherty’s Impact and Native initiatives to proudly ensure that Faherty is mission forward in everything they do. Kerry’s work focuses on driving positive change in the clothing industry, an inherently extractive and unsustainable industry. As a mother of two and a lawyer by trade with a background in human rights and mindfulness, she leverages her diverse expertise and deep passion to focus on sustainability, craftsmanship, circularity, strategic partnerships, community building and most importantly accountability and transparency. Under Kerry’s leadership, Faherty became a 1% for the planet member and in 2024, became a Certified B Corporation (B-corp), underscoring its dedication to transparent, ethical business practices and environmental stewardship. In addition, she is the author of the children’s book Somewhere, Right Now, published by Flamingo Books in 2022, which weaves in mindfulness, empathy building tips, and the normalization of difficult feelings that helps kids and parents everywhere. Her upcoming memoir, Selfish, will be released by RandomHouse April 2026.
It shapes how I think about everything: our sustainability initiatives and goals, the types of factories we work with, the types of people we hire, the people we feature in our catalogs, the nonprofit organizations we support, our collaborators, the stories we tell, how we operate as leaders in the company. I had never planned to be in clothing, but now that I’m in it, I’ve realized that I can alchemize my passions and purpose and translate it into a vehicle for the things that make me feel most alive.
A lot of our collaborations highlight incredible artists and thought leaders who are doing great work in the world (Surfrider, Surf Ghana, and our Native artist initiative, where we work with five ongoing Native partners to end appropriation in fashion and to share their art). Instead of doing traditional catalogs, we also use our seasonal campaigns to feature incredible people who are really making a difference in their communities.
I’ve learned by now that people’s minds are rarely changed by facts, information, and persuasion, but often changed through hearing the stories and experiences of other people. Writing, for me, is my favorite modality to explore what makes us human. My memoir Selfish (Penguin Random House) is coming out in April and it explores what happens when we put ourselves first, both in marriage, motherhood, business, creativity and longing.
