The WIE Suite Launched its Inaugural Board Readiness Course
LEADERSHIP
April 19, 2026
Introducing the first in The WIE Suite’s Course series, focusing on Board preparedness.

This spring, The WIE Suite launched its first-ever Board Readiness Course, a six-module program designed to equip senior executives with everything they need to pursue, land, and thrive in a board directorship. Across seven weeks, the inaugural cohort gathered with some of the most accomplished voices in board governance, executive search, and leadership to turn ambition into a concrete, actionable plan

The course covered the full arc of the board journey:

  • Board Service Today: What It Really Is, What It Requires, and Whether You're Ready with Sheila Hooda, Independent Board Director & Strategic Advisor, Technology, Business & Financial Services
  • Refining Your Board Value Proposition with Adriana Azuri, Fortune 500 Leadership Career & Board Coach, Executive Resumes & Board Branding
  • Honing Your Board Pitch with Jana Rich, Board Member; Founder & Executive Chair, Rich Talent Group
  • Diverse Board Pathways & Appointments with Jocelyn Mangan, CEO/Founder, Illumyn Impact; Product Leader & Board Member
  • Board Dynamics & Influence with Lisa Shalett, Co-Founder, Extraordinary Women on Boards; Board Director; Former Goldman Sachs Partner
  • Landing Your Board Seat: Preparing for Board Interviews with Caitlin FitzGerald, Principal, Heidrick & Struggles; Board & CEO Practice

The response from our cohort made clear just how much this programming resonated. Participants left not only more informed, but more confident — and more connected to each other.

“Incredibly informative. This gave me confidence that I do have networks that will support me in achieving this goal." — Cohort participant, after a session with Jocelyn Mangan

One of the course's most repeated themes was the power of reframing: how operating experience translates — and doesn't translate — to the boardroom, and how to approach board interviews not as a candidate, but as a peer. As one participant put it after Module 1: "I really liked the point about interviewing the board as peers. I didn't think about it that way before."

"I especially appreciated how much new and distinctive information she shared — the focus on being a first-time board director was incredibly helpful." — Cohort participant, following Lisa Shalett’s session

We're proud of what this inaugural cohort built together and are already thinking about what comes next. Stay tuned for future Courses on other rotating topics, launching this Fall.
